Flowers for a wedding day
Flowers play an important role in enhancing your special day. As the flowers are a significant part of the day a lot of consideration should go into the type of flower that is chosen. Silk flowers should be considered because they offer the ability to have exquisite flowers that are out of season (for real ones) and they last and look good all day long. They also hold other advantages over over fresh flowers.

Why Choose Silk Flowers?
Silk flowers are often preferable to fresh flowers for many reasons. Firstly they offer more choice, as said above, silk flowers do not need to be in season, and the colours can be more closely tailored to an individual's wishes. One of the other major benefits of choosing silk flowers is that they are long lasting. This means that they are not only going to be more hardwearing throughout the day, but also they can be kept as keepsakes or used again in the future.

Also the non-allergenic nature of silk flowers should be considered, it could tarnish the day if fresh flowers cause allergies to surface in the guests.

Below is a brief overview of the types of arrangements used commonly in most weddings:

Uses of wedding flowers
  • Bridal Bouquets
The bouquet carried by the bride is likely to be decided upon first, and the other flower designs built around it. The bridal bouquet is used throughout the day, it is carried in the church, thrown to the female guests and may have a built in corsage for the bride to pin to her going away outfit. A durable bouquet is required, therefore silk may be the best material to use for the bouquet to ensure it looks spectacular all day long and can be kept as a keep-sake for posterity (as with all of the special arrangements like the buttonhole, posy and the corsage. It is nice for the wedding entourage guests to have a keep-sake from the wedding).

  • Bridal Posies
A handheld bridal posy can be chosen as an alternative to the bridal bouquet. This arrangement can either be structured or a more relaxed design. A posy is often decorated with ribbons and diamante and is smaller than the traditional bouquet. Posies that match the bridal posy can be carried by the bridesmaids.

  • Corsages
The corsage is a simple arrangement usually pinned to the lapel. Other types of corsage are available however, such as the wrist corsage and the handbag corsage. The corsage is usually worn by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom. If a silk corsage is chosen it can be worn in the future for other occasions.

  • Buttonholes
It is traditional for the male members of the wedding party to wear a buttonhole in their left lapel. As with the other flowers the groom's button hole should match the bridal flowers.

  • Cake Toppers
Flowers can be used to decorate the wedding cake, which is the main focus of the wedding reception.

  • Table Decorations
The table decorations should be matched to the cake topper , making the tables at the reception beautifully decorated. Flowers add luxury to each individual table at the reception dinner.(which also make great keep sakes)

  • Wedding Decorations
Other places that flowers are used during a wedding are in the decoration of the rest of the reception venue, such as the back of chairs and windowsills. Flowers can be used to decorate the venue for the wedding ceremony, flowers can be placed on pedestals, pew ends, decorating candelabras and also the altar can also be dressed with silk flowers. Confetti
for the congregation should also be remembered as this can be supplied in biodegradable paper.
